How to edit a PDF

  1. Step 1: Select or drop your PDF to open it in the editor.

  2. Step 2: Pick a tool from the toolbar: Text, Links, Forms, Images, Sign, Whiteout, Annotate or Shapes.

  3. Step 3: Click on the page or on existing text, then adjust. Page tools rotate, delete or insert pages.

  4. Step 4: Click Apply changes and download your PDF.

Quick changes without desktop software

Most PDF edits are small: filling in a form that isn't fillable, adding a date, pointing out a mistake or dropping in a logo. The editor handles these in the browser, with nothing to install.

Everything stays adjustable until you click Apply changes, so you can experiment freely.

How does editing work?

Your additions (text in Helvetica, Times or Courier, in Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Arabic and Devanagari scripts; PNG or JPG images; stamps; links; form fields; highlight, underline and strike-out; shapes, arrows and freehand lines) are drawn on each page as vector content, and links and fields are real interactive PDF elements. The original content stays sharp and selectable.

To change existing text, the editor covers it with a matching background and rewrites it in a similar font (detected size, weight and colour). The original text is still in the file under that cover and can be copied or extracted: to really remove information, use Redact PDF. Deleted pages, on the other hand, are removed from the file.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change text that's already in the PDF?

Yes: with the Text tool, click an existing line to rewrite it, or use Find and replace. The old text is covered with a matching background and the new text is written on top; the original remains in the file underneath.

Is white-out safe for hiding confidential information?

No. Whiteout and text editing only cover content, which can still be copied or extracted. Use Redact PDF to remove sensitive content permanently.

Can I fill in or create forms?

Yes. Fields of an existing form appear on the page so you can fill them in, and the Forms menu adds text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns and signature boxes, with an option to flatten the form.

What happens to my PDF after editing?

The upload is deleted once your changes are applied. The edited PDF can be downloaded for 30 minutes and is then deleted automatically, or right away with Delete now.
