Compress a PDF to 200 KB or less

Many online forms and portals cap uploads at 200 KB. This page opens the compressor with the strongest level already selected, so scanned and image-heavy PDFs shrink as much as possible.

How to reduce a PDF to under 200 KB

  1. Step 1: Select or drop the PDF you need to make smaller.

  2. Step 2: Keep the Extreme level selected and click Compress PDF.

  3. Step 3: Check the new size shown with the result. If it is still above 200 KB, split the file or delete the pages you don't need.

Getting under 200 KB: what really helps

No tool can promise an exact size, because the result depends on what is inside your PDF. Scans and photos contain a lot of image data that can be reduced; a text-only file is already compact and won't shrink much further.

The Extreme level lowers image resolution the most, which is usually what it takes to reach 200 KB. Text and vector graphics stay sharp, but photos look softer, so it suits forms, certificates and ID scans better than brochures.

If the file is still too large, remove blank or unnecessary pages, or split a long document into several files. When you scan paper documents, choosing grayscale at about 150 dpi instead of high-resolution color also makes a big difference.

Frequently asked questions

Can you guarantee my PDF will be under 200 KB?

No, and no honest tool can. The final size depends on the number of pages and the images they contain. Scans usually shrink a lot; if yours doesn't reach the target, splitting it or deleting pages is the next step.

Why is the Extreme level already selected?

It produces the smallest file by reducing image quality the most. If the result ends up well below 200 KB, you can go back and try Recommended for sharper images.

My one-page scan is still too big. What can I do?

Scan it again in grayscale at around 150 dpi, or take a smaller photo and convert it to PDF. A single page made that way is usually far lighter once compressed.

Is my document kept on your servers?

No. Your upload is deleted after processing, and the compressed file is removed automatically after 30 minutes, or right away if you click Delete now.
